Community drumming band from Kent

Since forming in Tunbridge Wells in 2001 thanks to some Millennium Lottery funding, Bloco Fogo has grown and developed both musically and in size. In 2006 we established a second group in Maidstone. In 2017 we moved to a single rehearsal venue in Paddock Wood and now we have over 60 members! Over the years we have established strong links with South East arts companies including Same Sky, Strange Cargo, Cohesion Plus and Kent Equality Cohesion Council. We like to support events that celebrate our community and have also collaborated on a series of Samba-Bhangra fusion performances with Bollywood Brass and Four by Four Bhangra.

I just wanted to get in touch to say how amazed I am by you all. I was at the Rotherfield bonfire event last night and had such a fun night largely due to you wonderful, inspiring and energetic performers. You all have so much energy and skill. I have seen you at many events and every time just as good. Thank you to all of you for bringing cheer and energy to events!

brazilian samba with a twist

Our roots are as a samba band playing traditional drums and rhythms from the different regions of Brazil, although we have diversified our sound to include other influences, from Africa, Cuba & modern dance grooves, and now our rocking sets are as likely to include Samba Reggae rhythms as pure Rio samba.

Bloco Fogo means Band of Fire. When we play we combine amazing rhythms and infectious energy to create a fiery show of colour, sound and movement. We can provide a band with a minimum of six players for smaller functions, up to a massive visual and audio impact of 60 drummers for special events.

I just wanted to say thank you to the entire band. They were truly amazing - literally everyone was talking about them - and I think everyone that took photos has loads of the band. It really is a great addition to our procession.
