Thames Festival 2011

Thames festival seems to get bigger every year with more and more groups joining in the night carnival. This years event started in reverse with a rather quiet start due to the residential nature of the area, but culminated in massive crowds over Blackfriars Bridge and along the Embankment, followed by the usual massive firework display launched from Barges on the Thames. This was our first UK outing for our Baiana dresses and the new flag bearer costumes, and what a great sight it was.

Nijmegen Samba Festival Weekend 2011

A Samba and Salsa festival, that has been running for 8 years or so, and this was our first and hopefully not the last visit to this amazing place. We gigged our hearts out here with numerous sets all over town on both the Saturday and Sunday. We had great hosts and fantastic company from the other bands that were playing.
Heading the band was Sal and Jaz who revelled in the atmosphere and really got the crowds going. A big thanks go out to Belinda for organising the entire trip, it would not have been possible without you.

Old Trafford t20 Cricket

Another massive gig, playing to a packed out Old Trafford at the International t20 match between England and India. Warming the crowd up before the match, we had everyone dancing and singing along with us. Flags adorned various members as we got right up close and personal with the crowd, fantastic.

Then the build up to half time after India's innings and on the pitch we go to the sound of Samba Duro and drums up in the air. Then all too quick we are whisked off as the players stream on for England's turn at the crease.

Loved the crowd, the buzz and the welcome and interest we received from the fans. We even managed to get onto Sky Sports, watch out for the video shortly on YouTube.

Managed to get a few shots from the day - but check out the full album at the bottom of the post.
