Sidcup Christmas Fun

Samba Came To Town!

On a bright and crispy Saturday morning in December, Bloco Fogo arrived in the somewhat sleepy town of Sidcup. We were there to warm everybody up for The Sidcup Christmas Extravaganza.

And warm them up we most certainly did, as we played our Samba Grooves all around the town. The merry Christmas shoppers were very happy to see us again this year and all were filled with the joys of Christmas... and Samba!

We received lots of compliments, "sounded, great", "love you guys," along with a rather polite noise complaint and a furious OAP!

As this was officially our last gig of 2017, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas, we look forward to seeing you again in 2018.

Gravesham Festival of Lights

Gravesham's Christmas Light Switch On and Parade. We entertained the gathering crowds in the town centre from 3.45pm before joining the Christmas Parade with fantastic lanterns created by SameSky, climaxing with the Drumming Santa's at 5pm in the Market.

Gravesend Christmas Light switch on

Gravesend’s extensive Christmas celebrations began on Friday afternoon with the first of the 12 Days of Christmas events – the Gravesend’s Christmas lights switch and mass lantern parade.
Hundreds of children from 11 schools followed a giant snowbird (representing the partridge in the carol) as the town’s lights were switched on in stages by the Mayor of Gravesham Cllr Derek Sales and the Mayoress Mrs Pam Sales. They were assisted by cast members from The Woodville panto, Beauty and the Beast, Father Christmas and some of his elves.
Bloco Fogo were part of the parade which started at 4.30pm at the St George’s Centre, parading through the shopping centre onto New Road and into Windmill Street with a countdown (from 12 of course) at each stage of the lights.

Dover Christmas lights

Dover was lit up again this Christmas with the annual Christmas Lights Switch On event which took take place on Saturday 23 November.
The fun started at 9am and continues to 5.30pm when the town Christmas Lights were turned on by the Town Mayor of Dover and Members of the Cast of the Marlowe Theatre's Jack & The Beanstalk.

Bloco Fogo were there playing around the Upper Precinct area to add some colour and carnival atmosphere to the event, drawing the crowds in as we played. We even managed to bring out the sun too !

It was also a very special event for Leonie, our very own Samba Mama, whose birthday was celebrated with music, cake and an amazing model of Leonie herself.

Westwood Cross Christmas Light Switch on

Back at Westwood Cross again for another year leading the procession of pantomime characters and Father Christmas past the shops before we jumped onto the stage for a quick set. Followed by Ben Mills a recent X-factor finalist. The mildest weather yet for a November switch on playing in T-shirts was a far cry from past events here that has seen wind, rain and even snow!

The good weather bought out the crowds too who were packed in to see the performances and the light switch on. A great warm up to the festive season.
