London Marathon 2015

Playing at the Royal Society just off the finishing line on The Mall in London on behalf of Cancer Research UK. Providing some much needed entertainment for the amazing 2,300 men and women who were running to raise vital funds.  The Cancer Research UK runners were just a part of the record breaking 38,000 runners taking part in this years event.

A perfectly formed small band played for almost 5 hours and could be heard all down The Mall encouraging everyone in the final few metres of the race. Such a great atmosphere, and the aches and pains of 5 hours drumming was nothing compared to the punishment that many had put themselves through to raise money in their journey over 26 miles and 385 yards.

Reading Half Marathon 2015

Around 18,000 runners took part in the annual Reading Half Marathon under clear blue skies. Playing them off from the start and also encouraging them towards the end were Bloco Fogo !

A very long day with an extremely early start, but well worth it to see the smiles on peoples faces as they passed us, applauding us as they ran, grateful for all the encouragement we provided to see them on to the end.

Congratulations to everyone that took part, it was an amazing sight to see so many runners.

Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon 2015

Over 2,000 runners took part in this year's Lifestyle Kia Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon which took place on a crisp February morning. The race was started by Dame Kelly Holmes with the support of Bloco Fogo to bring a carnival atmosphere to the proceedings. A quick blast at the start to see the runners off before we headed off to play at the 11.5 mile spot outside the Kia Garage near the Spa hotel.

The support form the runners as they passed in the way of smiles, cheers and clapping kept us going till the last runner passed, and hopefully we motivated them onwards in the closing stages of the race. A great band turnout help to keep the volume levels high and the samba rhythms pumping out !

Brighton Marathon 2014

20,000 runners enjoyed cool weather for the annual Brighton Marathon and we were back for the 3rd year in a row, playing down at Basin Rd providing motivation for the long run out to Carats Cafe and back.

Not just a marathon for the runners but for us to, with a non stop stint of over 4 hours !
Great to see so many people clapping, dancing and even playing as they run past, each with their own story and reason for running. The Kenyans in a league of their own, followed by serious club runners from all over the country, then the thousands of fun runners raising money for charity.

So many memorable runners, but to name just a few,
  • Elvis
  • Batman
  • Superman
  • SuperGirl
  • Spider Man
  • Peppa Pig
  • The Honey Monster
  • The 70's dude
  • Angels
  • Fairies
  • A tree
  • A Tiger
  • A Rhino
  • Several soldiers in full kit
  • A Fireman
  • Dave "The Phone"
  • A Stormtrooper
  • and Samba Andy !
Congratulations everyone, it was a blast.
Hope to see you all again next year, if we've recovered in time :-)
