Jersey Battle of Flowers Moonlight Parade

The Jersey Battle of Flowers is one of the largest floral carnivals in Europe and without doubt a major highlight in Jersey’s varied summer calendar of festivals and events.

Bloco Fogo were especially invited to take part for the first time this year and performed in the Moonlight Parade in their Night Costume of Yellow trousers, black T-shirt and on this occasion swapping their famous red stripe to a white one. All our drums were lit up as were all of the floats as we paraded along the main coast road in St Helier.  All culminating in an amazing laser show set to music. Even after a couple of hours performing we managed to perform for another 30 minutes or so as the crowds left the arena.

With some great feedback from all concerned, especially the booker and the audience let's hope we are invited back again next year.

New Romney Country Fayre

Back again for about the ninth time at the New Romney Country Fayre, one of the favourites on our calendar. A fabulous parade through the streets of New Romney up to St Martin's Field where the crowds were waiting.  Over 150 stalls kept everyone busy and a variety of performances in the two arenas, including birds of prey, clowns, marching bands, dance groups, a horse display and of course Bloco Fogo kept everyone entertained throughout the afternoon.

New Romney - We'll see you next year !

Cleethorpes Carnival 2015

Massive flag waving and whistle blowing crowds lined the streets of Cleethorpes for their annual Carnival parade, and Bloco Fogo were again leading the event playing their samba music along the 4 mile route. Such a joy to be back at this event with an even bigger band than before.

Being interviewed by the local radio station!

Tunbridge Wells Lantern Parade 2015

Bloco Fogo's HUGE band of 40 drummers led the parade of hundreds of children and their lanterns through the streets of Tunbridge Wells for the annual Winter Lantern Parade.
Their seemed to be more lanterns than ever before this year having been created during several workshops throughout January. With a general theme of water this year there were fishes galore, including a special Bloco Fogo Fish !

Special thanks go out to Town & Country housing and CREATE ( Camden Road Education, Arts & Theatre Enterprise) for supporting the event and helping to make it possible, along with all those that donated to help the group make their funding target of £1,000.
