Gravesend Paralympic Lantern Parade

A perfect early September evening, 2 days before the official closing of the Paralympic games and several hundred children gathered in Gravesend to parade specially built lanterns though the park and onto the promenade. Supported by Same Sky, we played on the bandstand and followed the procession. and were joined by Steel Ambition and the 4x4 Bhangra group.

After all the children were presented with their medals, the parade ended at the Same Sky Dome for a dramatic interactive experience highlighting Man's impact on the Earth and how we should protect the environment.

Crawley Paralympic Lantern Parade

The Paralympic gig in Crawley was amazing, celebrating the arrival of the flame in a short procession from the park to the bandstand. An enthusiastic crowd gathered to see the event where we performed with several other groups. Most notable were Footloose, a group of mixed abilities performing an artistic dance piece. Everyone was moved by their performance, especially by Robert the lead performer, with many fighting back the tears. We also went out on live Television with a reporter from South East news trying to interview the crowd and the Mayor of Crawley over the top of our music !
