Kicking off the Centenary celebrations for the Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) with a parade through the RBL village in Aylesford and a short set in front of the stage.
We absolutely loved parading through Tunbridge Wells for their annual Pride event. Such an amazing carnival atmosphere in the town celebrating all things LBGTQ.
Jersey’s annual Battle of Flowers sees all the people of the Island come together from their Parishes and different groups to create amazing floats decorated with hundreds of thousands of flowers. These are then paraded in front of huge crowds lined up and down the main promenade in St Helier, firstly in the day parade where the full array of colour and imagination could be witnessed followed by a moonlight parade where everything comes to life in an spectacular cascade of lights.
With performances in the Day and moonlight parades plus a busk in the main town we had plenty of opportunities to entertain the huge crowds that always travel to Jersey for this fantastic occasion. We even managed to squeeze in a special rehearsal on the beach at Havre des Pas. Lovely to be back for our 3rd Battle.
An early morning start to get over to Dorking for the start of the Ride London event. We were supporting Alzheimers Society and their riders but were raising the spirits of all those speeding on past on the downhill section through Dorking town. Waves and cheers galore from the riders with many dancing in their saddles too!. Some welcome refreshments from the public and a special Bloco Fogo coloured iced lolly from the team at Alzheimers Society kept us going through the 4.5 hours drumming marathon.
Leeds Castle in Kent, “The loveliest Castle in the World” celebrated it’s 900th year with an event which took place across two days culminating in a grand procession that brought together a range of Kent community groups as well as performers and historical re-enactors.
We entertained the crowds at the Whistle Stop train station, then inside the castle on the famous lawns before warming up the crowd ahead of the main carnival procession. Hundreds of performers came together over the weekend celebrating the amazing landmark birthday celebrations.
Leading the entire carnival procession was a great honour for us, so thanks to everyone that was involved in making this such a special event.
